November Update

October was a good month for East GA FCA. We started out with ministry training in Jacksonville, Florida and Atlanta, Georgia. It was a great time to sharpen our axes so that we can become more effective at ministering to coaches and athletes.
We had two large events this month, Fields of Faith and FCA Game Day. Fields of Faith is a peer-to-peer ministry event. Students invite their own classmates and teammates to hear fellow students share their testimonies, be challenged to read the Word of God, and follow Jesus Christ. An athletic field provides a neutral, interdenominational rally point where a community can come together. We had two of them in the East GA area. One was in Swainsboro involving ECI and Swainsboro High School and one for Toombs County/Vidalia students that was held at Toombs County Middle School. There were great turnouts at both places. It was especially cool to see rival schools come together for worship and prayer.
FCA Game Day was on October 22, at Georgia Southern University. FCA huddles from around the area enjoyed a Chick-fil-A meal, heard testimonies from two Georgia Southern baseball players, enjoyed the great weather, and a GSU victory. There were over two hundred students and huddle leaders from across our area that were in attendance. The GSU baseball players who shared their testimonies did a fantastic job sharing about their life, sport, and faith. One of the things the guys talked about was the importance of being in a small group that prays and studies the Bible together and discusses how to apply it in their lives on and off the field. (This is the win for FCA)
Speaking of small group Bible studies, the East Georgia College baseball team will soon have three of them. Please pray for these young men as they dig into the Word and work it out in their lives. As funds become available we would like to put an FCA Bible in each of their hands. Also, Coaches Bible studies have been started up at Robert Toombs and Claxton High School this month.
