You may recall from reading our earlier newsletters that FCA Outdoors is a new venture in our area.  We recently had our first FCA Outdoors ministry event.  Eight coaches from across our area were given the opportunity to turkey hunt. They were paired up with 8 experienced turkey hunters on a Saturday morning.  It was a perfect day and a perfect way to invest in some of our coaches.  Everyone came back in for lunch and either shared a “tall tale” or showed off their turkey.  This is just one more way we are reaching out into the sporting world and influencing the influencers.  A special thank you goes out to our volunteer FCA Outdoor leader, Greg Woolard, for making this possible.

Sometimes unintended consequences can be a good thing.  That is the case with Bibles and FCA. FCA never intended to be a Bible distributing ministry, yet we are now one of the largest Bible distributors.  In 2011, FCA distributed 131,400 Bibles worldwide.  In our area this year we have placed 250 Bibles in the hands of coaches and athletes.  Just recently a coach called and said, “We just had 6 kids trust Christ at our meeting.  Could you get us some Bibles?” Thanks to your support we are able to put those Bibles in their hands at no cost to them.  This past week I was visiting one of our high school huddle leaders in his classroom  and one of the students came up to me and said, “Thank you for bringing us those Bibles.” So that “thank you” is passed on to you. Without you and your support it would not be possible.

Don’t forget about FCA summer camps.  The spiritual impact of a camp has the potential to change a coach or athlete, and all the people they influence.  Believing this, East GA FCA is committed to help get as many coaches and athletes to camp as we can.  So we are currently raising funds to help offset the cost (or scholarship) for 20 athletes and 10 coaches and their families to be able to attend camp.

The cost for coaches camp is approximately $1200.00 depending on the size of the family. Leadership camp is $365.00 and team camp is around $140.00 per athlete.  If you are interested in helping send and athlete or coach to camp, please contact our office.  If you would like more information on a particular FCA camp, check out www
