Sermon on the Mound

This month two of our area baseball teams where the focus of our first ever “Sermon on the Mound.” Vidalia and Treutlen met to compete on the baseball diamond and then over 100 athletes, students, coaches, and parents stayed afterward for a time of worship and testimonies.  Matthew Powell from Treutlen shared how God used an accident in his life to draw him closer to Him and Paul Dixon of Vidalia challenged the students to finish the year strong. Sermon on the Mound was hosted by Vidalia High’s FCA Student Leadership Team.

Coaches Turkey Hunt

One of the ways we intentionally try to reach out and build relationship with coaches is through our FCA Outdoors.  We bring in our coaches and turkey hunters on Friday evening to share a meal, a devotion, and some giveaways.  Then we pair up the coaches and hunters and they meet Saturday morning to hunt.  We all gather back up to show off the birds or to tell a tall tale. As a result of the hunt we have the potential of sending 2 Coaches and their families to camp and a Wrestling team to FCA Wrestling Camp.

Summer Camp

Camps have the potential to be a high water mark in the life of an athlete or coach. The spiritual impact of a camp has the potential to not only change a coach or athlete, but all whom they influence. Believing this, East GA FCA is committed to help get as many coaches and athletes to camp as we can. So we are currently raising funds to help offset the cost (or scholarship) for athletes and coaches and their families to be able to attend camp. If you would like more information on a particular FCA camp, check out www.fca.org/Camp

How can I help with camp?

The cost for coaches’ camp is approximately $1600 depending on the size of the family. FCA Leadership camp is $380 and team Camp is around $165 per athlete. If you are interested in helping send an athlete or coach to camp, please contact our office at 912-537-4002.
