East GA FCA has been in the thick of camps this summer. We have influenced wrestlers and softball players from across the state, and coaches from across the country. We have even had a presence in Tecate, Mexico. It has definitely been a time of inspiration and perspiration!
We had 20 wrestlers at our first ever FCA partnership camp at Brewton Parker College. The camp ran very well and the gospel was clearly presented. A great story from camp is about a father who attended with his son. He was not planning on staying, but he did. It was obvious from our times in worship and from our times in conversation that God had really challenged him to step up to the plate concerning his faith.
After our wrestlers left, we had to get ready for our 99 softball players. There was a definite change in the spirit in our worship services. Girls just seem much more natural in expressing themselves in worship. There were a handful of girls that responded during the altar call. Two of which recommitted their life to Christ. The others were obviously doing business with God at the altar on their own.
Softball concluded and we packed up and headed north to Black Mountain, North Carolina, for Coaches Camp. Coaches from all over the country were there with their families for a time of refreshing and renewal. There was a great mix of coaches from every level of coaching, from professional to high school. We were all challenged in our commitment to our marriages and commitment to the Word. Several responded to the invitation to surrender themselves more to their Heavenly Father. The neatest story from camp was during the open mic time. One of the coaches shared that he has been coming to Black Mountain for the past three years. This year God finally got hold of this Jewish coach and he committed his life to Christ. If you would like to hear the messages and testimonies from this camp go to www.myfcacamps.org/download
From the East GA FCA area we sent 20 student/athletes to FCA Leadership Camp July 2-6. At Leadership Camp they were challenged to step up and step out for Jesus on their school campuses and their athletic teams. I am looking forward to seeing what God is going to do on these campuses this year.
Next up is our FCA Team Football Camp at Georgia Southern University. There will be 600 coaches and athletes getting better at their game and hearing from the word of God. Many of these guys would not be at an FCA camp on their own, but coach said “get on the bus.” I am so thankful for coaches interested in winning where it counts.
All of this would not be possible without your support. Because of you many of these teams, coaches, and athletes received a scholarship or partial scholarship to attend camp. At camp they were able to hear the Word of God taught and a clear presentation of the gospel. Your support also enabled your East GA FCA staff to play a vital role in ministering to coaches and athletes through camps this summer. THANK YOU!!!
