August 2012 Update

August 2012 Update

School is back in session and several of our FCA huddles are primed to make an impact for the Kingdom this year. All of the students that you helped to send to FCA Leadership camp have returned to their campuses with a renewed vision for campus ministry. Several of their adult sponsors have expressed their own excitement because of their students’ excitement. When you pass by a school, how about voicing a prayer for the FCA ministry on that campus?
If you have not noticed, football season is upon us. We were able to partner with FBC Swainsboro to feed two of the Emanuel County football teams (the varsity teams from Swainsboro High and David Emanuel Academy) before the start of the season. FBC provided the meal and FCA provided a One Way to Play program encouraging the athletes to play alcohol and drug free. There were 70 athletes that signed a card indicating that they made that commitment. You know as well as I do signing a card doesn’t guarantee results, but it is a start. Stop for a moment and say a prayer for those guys to stay strong in their commitment.
One of the greatest needs in the East Georgia FCA area is that of a female FCA staff person for female coaches and athletes. This is something we have been praying for and seeking God’s guidance on for some time now. So we want to let you know how excited we are to inform you that Mary Bennett has agreed to be our volunteer FCA Female Staff person for Robert Toombs Christian Academy, Toombs County Middle & Toombs County High Schools. Mary has been a great volunteer for the FCA ministry over the past few years and really has a heart for coaches and athletes. Mary stands in need of prayer as she seeks to balance her time with FCA ministry and her work with Optim Healthcare.
Some new ministry opportunities that we have going on at the start of this year include 3 chaplains at Montgomery County, a Team Bible study for the Toombs High Cheerleaders, a coaches’ Bible study at DEA, and Glennville Middle will have their huddle up and running very soon. We have also already placed 87 Bibles in the hands of coaches and athletes this new school year.
Your prayer and financial support makes all this possible. Thanks for being a blessing to us so that we can be a blessing to others.
